Heirlooms

Converting some honour points into justice points I was actually able to buy a heirloom. I made a new char and then, at level 2, made this short video.

  1. Yep.

nit: BTW, the min-max crowd will give you a demerit for not having the weapon enchanted. In fact, I think I read a blog post that computed how much power from BoAs could come from enchants. It's just that nobody puts a 1000g enchant on a 0.1g grey weapon. When the level 1 weapon is 1DPS, a 30 DPS weapon enchant is significant, regardless of whether the weapon's DPS is 1 or 10. Whereas high level twinks will no longer use the BoA weapon to avoid having to stick with a low level enchant.

  2. I just wanted to say that I love these little WoW videos of yours. They say so much in so little time. This one might be my new favourite right after the one of your priest fighting Barricade at red difficulty and the fight going nowhere either way.

  3. Yes, you've clearly illuminated one of the problems with WoW leveling. While I like the idea of heirlooms, I think the execution of them created a nasty power creep in the game which is clearly visible in ways like your video and in PvP.

You clearly never played low-level PvP before heirlooms. If anything, heirlooms have leveled the playing field in twinking. Nevermind how abilities do more to unbalance low-level PvP than equipment even does.

Have -you- played low-level PvP before heirlooms? Joining a battleground without heirlooms today is like joining one back in the twink days but with four times as many twinks. It's downright silly until you reach level 60 and can obtain the PvP set pretty easily.

  6. Azuriel, I played low-level PvP before heirlooms extensively. I never twinked, but leveled my characters to 30-40 and then made another char.

  7. Play a caster, they don't gain nearly as much from their weapon as melee.

Which in my eyes is anothe problem of WoW. The weapons for caster never feel "special". They are just a stat stick. Caster weapons should be used during combat, at least the wand should be combined with your spells.
